About Us

The Poona Merchants Chamber, established in 1949, is one of the prominent apex bodies in Maharashtra representing wholesale traders dealing in food grains, Jaggery, Sugar, Edible Oils, Pulses, Dry fruits etc. The main aim of the Chamber is to solve the problems faced by traders & to fight against any injustice towards the traders. The Chamber also strives to have unity among the traders and tries to bring about awareness among them. At the same time, we are committed to contribute to the social cause. Our social commitment is reflected in the contributions made by us during the Kargil war & the devastating earth quakes in Latur & Gujarat. The social activity of our Chamber (Distribution of Ladu and Chiwada in huge quantity at reasonable rate during the Dipawali Festival) has been recorded in the Limca Book of Records.

The Pune Merchants Chamber acts as a conduit between the government and the traders by conveying to the government the problems faced by the traders and making the traders aware of the government policy. If necessary we submit representations to the government to get the problems sorted out.

We have formed the following sub-committees for smooth working of our organization.

Wandha Niwada Samiti

It is a committee which acts like a tribunal to settle disputes between traders.

Samanwaya Samiti

It is a committee formed jointly by trader members and the representatives of loaders - to solve any labour problems.

Trade Monthly "Vanijya Vishwa"

It is a mouth piece of The Poona Merchants Chamber and is being published continuously for the last 30 years. It educates, unites the traders and brings about grater awareness among them.

The Poona Merchants Chamber Relief Fund

The Chamber contributes through this fund to help the needy and also in times of national calamities.
